Ohio basketball player Tony Farmer collapses after being sentenced to 3 years in prison

Tony Farmer, the Ohio basketball star, made headlines for collapsing in the court after he was sentenced to prison for attacking and kidnapping his girlfriend. Farmer’s trial video is abuzz all over social media. Media representatives present in the court room caught him on the spot when Cuyahoga County Court Judge Pamela Barker gave him three years for kidnapping in the April incident.
Tony Farmer was literally shocked. In fact a chill ran down his spine when he heard it directly from the judge. In order to confirm, Farmer asked his lawyer, Joe Dubyak, whether he was sentenced for three years.
Farmer was not only sentenced for kidnapping his girlfriend, but also has to serve the two-year prison for felonious assault and two years for robbery. When he thought he would be spending the next seven years of his life in prison, he collapsed out of utter shock and tremor at his lawyer's feet.

The judge tried to handle the chaos in the court room by saying she wasn’t finished yet. A court officer lifted Tony Farmer from the ground while the judge said, "Tony, come on Tony. It's not as bad as you think it is."
Barker tried to calm him down by saying that the terms would be served concurrently and that Farmer would spend three years in prison. This sentence would be re-evaluated after 180 days and until then Tony has to be in prison.
According to the prosecutors, Tony Farmer attacked his girlfriend, Lane, and dragged her by her hair outside the building, taking her cell phone, bank cards and the car keys. He was also charged and blamed for sending threating messages to his girlfriend. Andrea Lane was at her apartment building in Bedford Heights, southeast of Cleveland at the time of this assault.
Three years of imprisonment means a lot of damage to his budding career and future as a basketball player. Tony is an exceptional player. He was an all-state pick in his junior year and was ranked among the top 100 basketball recruits in the country. Xavier, Dayton, Ohio State, Michigan State, Iowa, West Virginia and Illinois were all courting him.
